We want to expand our very successful primary level programme, by continuing it into secondary schools in Clare, focusing on TYs, 1st and 2nd year pupils.
This engaging 6-week Sportshall Athletics programme empowers TY students to become confident leaders through sport. Sportshall athletics is both inclusive and adaptive and involves activities such as running, jumping and throwing. The programme focuses on athletic skills & physical activity in a safe and enjoyable way, while catering progressively for the needs of the developing pupil.
One group of TYs will receive training in Sportshall Athletics, before passing on their skills by training other TY groups. Together, the TY students then deliver fun and inclusive sessions to 1st and 2nd year students within the school.
Sportshall Athletics is designed to be inclusive and suitable for all abilities and activity levels. Throughout this programme, students develop valuable leadership, communication, teamwork, and organisational skills in a practical, hands-on setting.
Furthermore, this programme is free of charge, making it a fantastic opportunity to build student leadership while promoting active participation across the whole school. There are 4 places available on this programme.
Support will be offered to participating schools through training, equipment loan, and human resources where possible.
To book, schools must contact Lizzy directly by phone on 087 359 7767 or by email lizzy@claresports.ie.
