We spent 3 fun filled days in Corofin Gaa Club, for our county Sportshall Athletics finals, on May 10th, 11th and 12th. This was the first time the county finals had taken place since 2019 due to global pandemic, so everyone was delighted to see the festival back!

The competition was a huge success with 9 primary schools and just under 400 children participating in sportshall athletics over the course of the festival. The competition included both field and track events, and the competition categories were 3rd + 4th class girls, 3rd + 4th class boys, 5th + 6th class girls and 5th + 6th class boys.

We would like to say a very special thank you to our participating primary schools and their teachers. We would also like to thank TY students from Gaelcolaiste An Clair and St. Flannan’s College, Ennis for being amazing volunteers. The students helped our over the course of the 3 days, taking scores, guiding the children and judging the competition. A special thank you must also be mentioned to our head judge Vincent McCarthy of Clare Athletics club.

This year’s sportshall athletics festival was truly fantastic and we look forward to organising next year’s competition already!
