Community Activity Leaders Course
Our Community Activity Leaders course is due to take place in Kilrush over the coming months, and we are still seeking applications.
This course includes a mixture of practical and theory-based learning and qualifies participants to become activity leaders within their own groups or communities. No previous experience as a coach or activity leader is required.
Participants will be supported to take active leadership roles delivering physical activity to groups such as men’s sheds, women’s groups, active retirement groups, sports clubs, youth clubs and other community groups.
The course provides comprehensive training, including Safeguarding, First Aid and Disability Awareness certification, alongside elements of coach development, community engagement, follow-on pathways and sustainability.
Please pass the expression of interest form on to anyone you feel may be interested in taking part.
Women in Sport Week – March 2nd – March 8th
Women in Sport Week takes place from March 2nd to March 8th, and we are encouraging clubs, where possible, to celebrate women and girls in sport during this week.
We are keen to work with clubs who would like to collaborate to run taster sessions or events for women and teen girls. There is limited funding available to support clubs delivering events during Women in Sport Week, so we encourage clubs to get in touch with Mary, mary@claresports.ie, as soon as possible to apply. This open to all clubs.
Examples of activities may include:
- Wellness or mental health events
- Nutrition, injury prevention or sports psychology information sessions
- “Try it” sessions pairing your sport with another club or sport
- Social media posts highlighting Women in Sport Week within your club
The theme for Women in Sport Week this year is Same Energy, which focuses on females seeking the same treatment as males — nothing more, nothing less. The theme allows for plenty of creativity, and we really looking forward to working with clubs who would like to get involved.
Safeguarding Courses
As a reminder, it is essential that all members of your club hold an in-date Safeguarding 1 certificate to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in sport.
All Safeguarding 1 courses taking place in February are currently fully booked. We do, however, have availability on our next two Safeguarding 1 courses taking place on March 4th and March 25th.
In addition, a Safeguarding 2 course will take place on February 24th, with two spaces currently available.
Courses can be booked using the button below.
Fun Run Clubs – Call for Host Clubs
We are currently seeking host clubs for our new Fun Run Clubs initiative. The aim of this programme is to encourage community involvement within clubs through a fun, social running initiative.
Clare Sports Partnership will provide the running template, with each club supported to appoint one or more run leaders. We will follow the journey of each participating club, culminating in a series of Fun Run 5k events across the county.
This is an excellent opportunity for new Healthy Club Officers or Community Engagement Officers to establish a new programme within their club, with the backing and support of Clare Sports Partnership.
Any clubs interested in taking part are asked to please get in touch with mary@claresports.ie.
Sports First Aid Course
We will be running a Sports First Aid course, which includes CPR and defibrillator training, on March 7th in Kilrush, from 9.30am to 4.00pm.
It is important that each club has members who have completed first aid training to help maintain a safe environment for participants. Click the button below to book your place.
Club Contact Details
We are aware that most clubs will have held their AGMs by now. If you are no longer the main contact person for your club, please contact mary@claresports.ie so we can update our records.
As always, if you have any questions or would like further information on any of the above, please contact mary@claresports.ie.
