Clare Sports Partnership (CSP) is thrilled to announce the recent allocation of €157,500 in funding through the Participation Nation Outdoor Fund and the Amuigh Faoin Spéir Fund. This grant will support the installation of barrier-free outdoor sports infrastructure across County Clare, in collaboration with Clare County Council, promoting inclusive, accessible recreational spaces designed for people of all ages and abilities. Additionally, the Amuigh Faoin Spéir fund will allow for the integration of biodiversity projects, creating vibrant, natural environments that enhance local ecosystems alongside these new community facilities.
The funding, received from Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport, Media, and Gaeltacht, will enable the installation of fixed outdoor sports equipment in various locations around the county. The collaboration with area managers of the County Council in each municipal district, has been instrumental in ensuring these resources are strategically located for the widest possible community impact.
Pat Sexton, Programme Manager for Clare Sports Partnership, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating,
This investment is a fantastic step forward for Clare’s communities. By working together with municipal district managers, we’re creating sustainable spaces that serve as both recreational hubs and biodiverse green areas. Our goal is for all residents, regardless of age or ability, to have the opportunity to engage in physical activity in welcoming, accessible settings, while also enjoying nature right at their doorstep.
The Participation Nation Outdoor Fund and Amuigh Faoin Spéir Fund are dedicated to transforming local outdoor spaces into inclusive areas that support both active lifestyles and environmental sustainability.
John Sweeney, CEO Clare Sports Partnership said that
We are delighted with this announcement and the opportunities it brings to the people of Clare. In the coming weeks, we’ll be pulling together all our County Council partners to carefully select projects that best fit the goals of these funds. I would like to thank all that inputted into the application, especially the staff from each municipal district in Clare, and Pat Sexton from my own team for coordinating the submission.
