In keeping with the vision from the Sport Ireland Outdoors Policy, earlier this year, we identified a need in our outdoor clubs for a REC (Remote Emergency Care) Level 3 course. This July course took place at our Community Sports Hub in Killaloe. It was well attended by volunteers from scouting, sailing, hiking, curragh rowing, and kayaking.
REC 3 is the approved course for Canoeing Ireland, Irish Sailing, Mountaineering Ireland, Cycling Ireland, Scouting Ireland, and other Sporting NGB’s. This course is designed to meet the needs of those who work professionally or volunteer in the outdoors. The course introduces a systematic method of first aid for managing casualties. The course is a balanced mix of theory and practical and consolidated with simulated real-life scenarios.
