Seven girls took part in a beginner teen girls surfing camp in conjunction with Ben’s Surf Clinic in Lahinch, from June 27th – July 1st, 10am -12pm each day. This programme was aimed at teen girls who participated in little to no physical activity. The surfing camp was a huge success, with some girls being able to stand up on the surfboard and ‘catch some waves’ by the end of the week. One participant even bought chalk to do up a surfboard she had at home so she could take it out onto the water, now that she knows how to surf. Feedback from the camp was extremely positive with one participant saying the camp was ‘brilliant and very encouraging’. One parent alluded to the fact that a camp was ‘very well run’ whilst another stated that the camp was ‘an amazing opportunity’ and that her daughter ‘loved every minute of it’.
